Progress!!! All the garbage is now out of the alley and the site was scalped of its native grasses. More digging to commence in the morning. Slow as she goes, progress is good!!
I think I have come up with an excellent idea for a Mexican novella, Los Pollos de Amor. It seems as though we have 2 roosters on site, Romeo and Tyson and both are vying for lady Clementines attention. Where will the story unfold... Top: Tyson, Clementine, Romeo Middle: Romeo & Clementine Bottom: Tyson
We are all abuzz here at the office this morning. To our utter delight the issue of Dwell that features an article about the houses that John Beckham and I built over on Santa rosa is out...and I am absolutely beside myself that the house I designed is on the cover!!!! It is just such an absolute thrill I could have never imagined!! Baxter is getting a big raise for such excellent PR work!
Yesterday, we finally had a little movement on site. Bobby McGee and his assisant Justin came up from San Antonio so we could establish finish floor elevations before we start excavating. I had my camera out ready to document and in usual Amy fashion the flippin' battery was dead- so no photos for today. We did get to meet the neighborhood rooster, I have named him Romeo, I will try and get a photo of him, he is quite spectacular.
A big thank you to my old friends BDGA for allowing me to print my drawings on their super-lux printer. A special thanks to Chris for making the machine cooperate. (I would have taken a picture of Chris, however i needed my camera not to break...hee, hee, hee)
Back in the office today for a few hours. Official ground breaking has been pushed to Monday, I hope. Here are a few photos of the reason for our delay. (Baxter is calculating how long it will take him to tetter along the ice to the yard, do his business and get the frick back inside.)
Well today was supposed to be the big day. Our good friend Bobby McGee was suppose to come all the way up from San Antonio and dig a big hole in the ground, smoosh the ground and fill it back up so our foundation would be nice and stable. However, after a week of 80 degree weather it is now snowing in Austin, oh yes and ice too. I wish I had pictures, but my camera cord is stranded at the office, oh well. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
We are about to embark on the construction of our new house on the East Side in Austin. I am hoping for a smooth and uneventful build as I am both the architect and the general contractor for this project. So everyone cross your fingers and pray that the building gods and the City of Austin make this whole thing a walk in the park.
