Ryan the Mime

Storefront frames made it in today- glass will be installed tomorrow. Ryan stopped by (on his birthday- Happy Birthday) to do an audio wiring walk through with Patrick and David Bond- our audio consultant. He is also testing out the make believe glass- while I inspect and talk on the phone- as always. Special thanks to guest photographer Patrick and his BFF Lady I-Phone.

I love the smell of resin in the morning

Fiberglass for the big shower was installed this weekend. The smell really affects you- I think that is why the installer was smiling. We also boarded up the wrapping window- I found out we need to install the metal on the outside first- before we can get the glass in- so happy anniversary Patrick now help me board up some windows- he was really happy about it. We both hate the circular saw, its a little scary.

Shower Pan Man

Master shower has been slope floated and is ready for fiberglass on Saturday. Sorry for the blurry image- I don't realize the lighting speed at which I move. Glass arrived at shop and should be installed Monday- only one week late- not too bad, I guess. We also had special visitors stop by Mom Robins, aka Virginia and a friend of hers from San Antonio plus my very pregnant sister Emily- we had to hoist her up the front step :) - they all escaped before I could snap photos- maybe I am not as fast as once thought.

1 Victory and a floor sample

When I got on site this afternoon, Oscar the electrician told me there was 3 hours worth of police hub-bub this morning in the alley. I was concerned so I went to ask Mary, the lady that bought the new house 1 down from us- she moved in this weekend. She told me they were removing all the abandoned cars, 3 of them, from the house in between us. I am ecstatic as I am sure they were housing all sorts of vermin. Whoopeee!
The floor people came to do a sample of the burnished concrete I was thinking about doing- however since our slab is so nicely finished I am not sure we need this extra step. It looked good, but not much different from the treatment I did before. We shall see.
Fiberglass people come tomorrow to install pan for master shower!!! Almost ready for those pesky inspections.

Update..

Ok, so the electricians tell me that they should be done by Thursday- I am going to be optimistic on this one. After several calls with the glass people, our new installation date is now Monday the 23- apparently several of the pieces of glass were rejected at the factory- (we are having a Low-E coating put on the glass for extra energy efficiency) because the coating was defective. Travis at the glass place says they might be having problems with their "vats" whatever that means. Heads up and press on, Oct.11 due date is a lot closer than I would like. Stock up on the pepcid ac.

Site Visitor

So we are STILL wiring. The electricians promise only a couple more days. Monday or Tuesday should bring back the glass installers for all the other glass, very excited to get the house completely sealed up- the wrapping front window is still open and for reasons I wish to not reveal, and could not bring myself to put in writing- we have discovered "evidence" that someone is making themselves at home in our house and they are not being very tidy visitors. On a better note, today we welcomed site visitor Mark that I used to work with, always nice to have visitors- thanks for stopping by.

If you would like to live by the lake

Since I can only take so many photos of the electricians wiring the house, plus I think they are getting suspicious of my relentless documentation, I thought I would share this ad we just did for a spec house that I designed for a neighborhood out by the lake. This will appear in the San Antonio/Austin edition of Luxe magazine- I am not sure when. Special thanks to my graphic design team, Patrick and Baxter Dempsey.

Electrify Me!!!

Electrical rough wiring is going in. They said they should be done by Tuesday- we will see. The roof is working and draining well with all of the rain- as it should. So after we get done with the electrical- we wait for the courtyard windows to go in- then we can get our rough inspections, then we can insulate and then we can drywall. Lots to do! more to come!!
