I'm Dyin' here!!!!

For the love of the heavenly father would it STOP raining!!!!!!!!! Luckily we have maintained the rest of the copper on site, but we are still presumably 3 days away from sun. Here are some various shots of the guys primping the rebar and whatnot. Oh and my sign.

There one day and gone the next..

Well, we were worried about our copper and our fears came to fruition. Upon arriving at the site this morning, we discovered a bunch of our copper water lines were stolen, fooey. We replaced in time to pass our inspection and hopefully the rest will make it to Thursday, when we are scheduled to pour the slab. It is good to get the bad things out of the way early on. On the brighter side, I saw one set of baby chicks, they are very cute- word is there is a younger set of chicks hanging out too. I will try and get pics tomorrow.

Dirty Copper

Our copper water lines are in and to be inspected tomorrow. Word on the street is we will pour concrete on Thursday. Hopefully the rain, rain will go away and come again another day- in a month I wish-it is a mess.

Theme Song

Work is chugging along slowly due to the suck-ass weather. However I thought i would announce my theme song for this project. I, like others, associate events with favorite songs- and my favorite song for about the last 6 months or so- I get stuck- is SoundTeam's "Born to Please" from the album Movie Monster. I thought is was fitting since they say something about building in the song and they are haunts around this neck of the woods. So do with it what you will- Happy Friday.

Saddle up to the bar.

Rebar for the foundation has arrived on-site. There was hope that we would be able to pour on Friday, but the rain gods are just not in on my plans. So it looks like we won't have our slab until next week.

Fresh Electricity

After much confusion with Austin Energy, we have finally received our construction meter. It is a fancy new digital one. We are happy to have him.

Day by day by day...

Well after a week of almost no progress due to the RAIN, again!!! Damn rain what is it good for anyways. We had a flurry of activity on Saturday and they managed to dig all the grade beams and slap on the vapor barrier (the black plastic). We are now waiting on the plumber to install the copper water lines and then we cross our fingers and hope they don't mysteriously disappear.

Curious

These are the sand bags they are using for the tall end of the foundation. Curious?

Passed!

Passed our first 2 inspections!!! Stop the rain and we can proceed again.

Rough Plumbing is Tough

Rough plumbing is in. We are scheduled to get our 1st 2 inspections today; however I have been informed by my friend Jimmy the plumber that the inspectors do not come out in the rain. Hmmm will they melt? or do they wear suede shoes?
